Zig Ziglar 1926 – 2012

Last week it was a sad moment for many of us to learn of the passing of Zig Ziglar.

Although I don’t believe that he wrote the line “Attitude is everything”, this would be my best way to summarise Zig Ziglar’s teaching, philosophy and wisdom. Coming from a challenging background as one of twelve children in pre war USA, he was fatherless from the age of 6. He served in the USA Navy towards the end of WW2 before starting a successful career in sales. During this period he self taught himself the skills, optimism and required attitudes to overcome almost any obstacle. He subsequently started his own company as a teacher, speaker and motivator. I can say from personal experience (on two occasions) that it was impossible to attend a Zig Ziglar seminar without coming away with a stronger feeling of hope, optimism and greater mental strength. Quoting from “The Zig Ziglar Difference” in interview, he states “You change where you are in life by changing what you put in your mind”. I so wish we could share a little more of that line around the world!

Zig Ziglar’s most famous quote

As the author of many books including best sellers “See You at the Top” and “Over the Top” and writer of numerous incisive quotes, Ziglar became well known to leaders and anyone looking to find a direction for their lives. He was truly a legend in the field of leadership learning and I doubt if anyone will replicate his enthusiasm and wisdom in business. He lived by his own philosophy of “It’s not where you start or even what happens to you along the way that’s important. What is important is that you persevere and never give up on yourself”. “It is not your aptitude but your ATTITUDE that decides your altitude in life”.

Thank you Zig Ziglar for the motivation. Your attitude really was everything.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
