2012 is the inaugural BlockTwo Merlot CabFranc blend by Paradise Rescued.
After recovery of the tiny 1/10th hectare section of 60 year old Merlot vines in 2010 / 11 from their near death experience, this was the first year of Merlot fruit production. Harvested by hand, destemmed by hand and crushed by hand, just a barrel and a half of merlot was produced in total.
Following a “small commercial” trial when some 2013 Cabernet Franc was added to a part vat of the 2012 merlot, the tasting of this accidental blend immediately showed the potential for the merlot vineyard and the BlockTwo product.
Paradise Rescued BlockTwo 2014 is a 60% Merlot 40% Cabernet Franc Bordeaux blend.
