B1ockOne 2014

2014 is a much overlooked and underrated Bordeaux vintage. Following a mild wet winter, the season started early and generally Spring was mild to warm with successful flowering. June was hot but with some severe thunderstorms across the region. July was wet and August cold. But an Indian style summer in September saved the vintage providing good quality fruit in small quantities.

Yield was again very low making this wine concentrated in flavour and loaded with strawberry ageing into red cherry flavour. As always, the wine was aged for one year in mature oak giving a complex taste to the wine.

David’s comments

“2014 is the first in a series of straight good Cabernet Franc vintages. The wine has all-round good balance between concentrated fruit, body, acidity and length. I look forward too see how this will age.” David Stannard, Owner
