Don’t abdicate your Personal Power

Over the last couple of days, I have had the wonderful privilege to participate in Social Media Pros 2015 #SMPros15 led by Zoe Wyatt of SocialMediaShortCut.com. By good luck, alongside me was Karen Clarke the brilliant new emerging author of “From Bullied to Brilliant” and authority on bullying management strategy.

Karen Clarke – author of “From Bullied to Brilliant”

What marks Karen and her work out from the crowd is her very different approach and refreshing philosophy to this complex but very relevant subject. She sees the very real possibility of opportunity emerging from adversity – even very significant adversity. She sees potential good coming from the pain that is bullying. Her ‘Tough Minded Optimism’ strategy is an inspiring lesson for us all.

We all have dark moments and bad times, some through the actions of others, eg bullying or the impact of unforeseen events. If we don’t believe that we get to a better place, that we can find a worthwhile purpose or achieve something of value, then we lose all hope. Only when we have hope, can there be life.

Karen skilfully pulls into her book the concept of ‘personal power’. That is, the belief that any one of us can choose how to respond to a given set of circumstances, even if they were not of our making. Making a choice and choosing a direction, plan or strategy is the key. As Anthony Robbins quotes: “It is in our moments of decision that our destiny is created”.

The power to make a choice is one of the key traits that has separates us humans from other animals. We can all exercise our right to choose or simply abdicate our personal power. Not making a choice is still a decision – decision most often to pass back your power to somebody else. Choose wisely.

Thank you Karen Clarke for a great book “From Bullied to Brilliant”.

Brilliant indeed! Don’t abdicate your personal power. Never forget – #YouCanDoIt[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
