Yarra Valley view

It may be nearly the end of the year but there’s always something happening around the wine world.

It may be colder and quieter in Bordeaux at the moment but that doesn’t stop the planning work. Pascale is busy assessing the vines to see which ones will require replacing and replanting in Spring. This is exciting as it will be our first work to sustain the vineyard and rejuvenate it for the future.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit the Yarra Valley last weekend and to sample the wines from Coldstream Hills and Oakridge wineries, both of whom produce top wines. It was also interesting to learn how the difficult cold 2011 vintage had been treated very differently and how a human “hands on” approach had produced a much better result for one of the pair. We tasted more than 20 white and red wines overall. We still believe our 2010 #Cloud9 Cabernet Franc will compete well with the best of them.

And talking of the 2010 #Cloud9 #CabFranc, this week in Bordeaux our bottles will be labelled, capsuled and packed into their branded boxes of six. The next step is finding a refrigerated container with whom we can share our four pallets to export the wine to Australia. And hopefully, #Cloud9 will be on its way to Australia as the New Year starts.
