It’s always nice when you find someone doing the same (good) things as yourself. It’s equally exciting when you find someone who has already succeeded at the things that you are now trying and want to work well in the future. It was simply brilliant to be able to visit Cobaw Ridge winery, to meet Nelly Cooper and hear the story of their amazing organic / biodynamic winery. This is a real gem!!

Many of the similarities with our own operations in Cardan were quite uncanny! As always, success always leaves clues and Paradise Rescued is following as fast as we can learn! Here are some of the “look alikes” we picked up during 30 minutes of non stop questions – sorry Nelly and thank you for the fantastic kind welcome. Cobaw Ridge produces single varietal wines – 5 in total, including two chardonnays and a top of the range Lagrein, a rare but absolutely gorgeous grape variety from northern Italy. After successfully mastering Organic viticulture, they have moved on to Biodynamic. Furthermore they claim that they can easily identify

the differences between harvesting on different days in the lunar cycle, etc. Everything in the vineyard from pruning to canopy management to harvesting is carried out by hand. They also use technical corks similar to #Cloud9 – no Aussie screw tops thank you. Nice result. And finally their normal crush size is small – about one tonne, reflecting our new approach for 2012 in the winery in Cardan….watch this blog page for more details soon.
